Photo report from Beslan, Russia

September 29, 2004

September, 2004 will forever be remembered as one of the most tragic moments in modern history. Just the mention of Beslan will for many years cause distress and sadness. We are thankful to everyone who has helped the children and their families who became victims of this massacre.

On September 23, Children’s Hope International delivered the first humanitarian help to ten families. The total amount of monetary aid distributed so far is $10,979.50 (as of September 24, the Russian School Tragedy Fund has raised $7125).

These pictures were taken by Boris Tchernov, the Director of Russian Humanitarian Aid. He personally traveled to this region to meet with families and to discuss with officials the future of a Beslan rehabilitation center and other humanitarian help. On one of the pictures you will see the wall with photos of missing kids. There are still over 200 people on the missing persons list. Other pictures show Boris distributing humanitarian aid directly to the families. Most other pictures need no comments.
