Dear Friends,

Thank you very much for your support of CHI’s humanitarian aid which helps us give homes, health and hope to the children at risk in the countries where we work.  Without your help in 2004, we could not have completed 364 projects in 7 different countries.  Isn’t it remarkable that your generosity enabled nearly one project each day?  Every one of these projects affects individual children who receive more food, proper medical attention, and a safe living environment because of your care.  We sincerely thank you.

2004 marked the third full year of operation for Children's Hope International Foundation.  In the past 12 months, $1,072, 089.91 was distributed to the countries where we work.  This is 33% more than what we distributed in 2003!  On the fundraising front, donations increased by 77%.  Because all administrative costs are covered by a third party (Children's Hope International), we are able to distribute 100% of every donation for humanitarian projects.

With this money we were able to:

bullet

Complete 114 surgeries in China, and implement the Tomorrow Project.  We will work in conjunction with the Chinese government, which will provide 30,000 surgeries for orphans over the next 3 years.

bullet

Establish computerized database for 7 regions in Russia to help prepare necessary documents for domestic and international adoption, reducing paperwork and expediting the adoption process.

bullet

Initiate sponsorship program for HIV+ kids in Tam Binh orphanage in Vietnam.

bullet

Reduce the number of orphanages in the world by supporting the AMOR orphanage in Guatemala during the closing process.

bullet

Help the Adivasi people of India receive basic medical attention and proper nutrition for the children.

bullet

Provide tuition scholarships for 30 older orphans in Kazakhstan.

bullet

Begin humanitarian aid program in Colombia with cleft lip/palate surgery.

You were very active in participating in our events, visiting our website and responding to our newsletters.  Our first Concert for Orphans and the Orphan Train of Hope began a new fundraising tradition for CHIF in St. Louis.  We enjoyed great success through these fundraisers and plan to make them annual events.  Several other fundraising activities took place through our branch offices across the country such as the Bering Strait concert in Nashville, and the Holiday Gala in Chicago.

We continued to develop our website as our major information hub.  Last year over 15,000 individuals visited our site, and online donations quadrupled since 2003!   Our China and Russia Foundations were able to open their own national bilingual websites, accessible through www.chifoundation.org.  We extend a special thank you to all of our Kid Ambassadors who raised money from friends and family to help kids in need around the world.  Their photos and stories are also posted at that web address.

We organized four direct mail campaigns in 2004 and published our first annual Wish Book to help you choose the particular project that you wish to support.  Thank you for your quick response to tragedies that happened throughout the year.  You reacted immediately to our requests for aid for the flood in Siberia, the Beslan school tragedy and the recent tsunami in Southeast Asia.

At the end of our third year, we remain confident in your support.  With your help we envision the launch of an immense project in 2005 for children affected by HIV in countries where we currently provide humanitarian aid.  We want to educate caretakers, provide money for appropriate medical tests for children, and purchase medication for their transition to health.  In 2005, we will continue to improve our communication of information to you, our donors, and with your help, increase our circle of friends who would like to participate in our Foundation projects.

With our sincere appreciation,

CHIF Foundation
